About the girl: The old girl, that is. Her image, courtesy of ArtToday (I searched for "granny"), comes from the book "Sweet Cicely; Or, Josiah Allen As A Politician" by Marietta Holley, 1836-1926, who was JA's wife. Published in the USA by Funk & Wagnalls Company, in 1886. (I think this is the authentic punctuation for the title: you'll probably find a copy easily on the web, but everyone spells it slightly differently.) |
